Performs ultrasonography procedures on both inpatients and outpatients.
ARRT/RDMS certification or certification eligible required. If certification eligible must pass certification within 12 months of hire date.
Requires moderate degree of physical activity, including bending, stooping, reaching, lifting while being on your feet most of the time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs the scanning examination requested by the referring physician, modifying the examination, depending on the findings demonstrated, and review the examination with the supervising radiologist.
Assists the radiologist or the clinician in special procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy procedures.
Performs routine equipment checks for resolution and other quality control procedures, as necessary.
Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while getting on to scanning table, if unsafe situation occurs (such as fire), getting patient to safety and sounding alarm. Ability to work alone (on call) and get job done in an efficient manner.
Develops and processes permanent film records of the examination or verifies images are sent to PACs.
Maintains an inventory of coupling agent, film, drugs and other supplies and requisitions supplies and materials, as needed.
Maintains sterile instruments, as needed, may clean and re-sterilize them or return them to central supply for sterilization and storage.
Teaches ultrasound technique to student technologists.
Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments, as appropriate.
Takes call as scheduled and must be able to be in the department within 60 minutes after being called for a procedure.
Must be able to work a variety of shifts on a scheduled basis.
