The Genetics Counselor will provide genetic counseling services to women with high risk pregnancies, parents of children with dysmorphic, genetic or metabolic disorders, and adults with genetic or metabolic disorders. The Genetics Counselor will work in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
LOCATION: John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital/ DEPARTMENT: Pediatrics/ Genetics & Metabolism Clinical
SHIFT: 8am -4pm
This position is exempt from Career Service under the CCHHS Personnel Rules.
Master's degree in Genetics Counseling from an accredited college or university ( Must provide official transcripts at time of interview)
Board certified o r board eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomic OR must be board certified or board eligible two (2) weeks prior to starting employment (Must provide proof at time of interview)
Clinical experience working as a Genetics Counselor

Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate with a diverse patient population, administrators and all levels of personnel within a highly complex health care system.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Demonstrate analytical and organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking and conflict management/resolution skills.
Demonstrate infection control practices.
