Under direct supervision, assists the Network Engineer in the administration, maintenance, and operation of Cook County Health & Hospitals Systems (CCHHS) computer systems, local-area network (LAN), wide-area network (WAN), VoIP, wireless and network segments. Uses network management support tools to provide network statistics. Assists in the monitoring and management of network performance.
Bachelor's Degree in a computer or a network engineering field and two (2) years of experience in an IT network environment (must provide official transcripts at time of interview) OR a High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate and six (6) years of experience in an IT network environment is required. (Must provide proof at time of interview.)
Cisco Certification is preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and overall PC knowledge
Knowledge of computer technology, installation and configuration of workstation equipment.
Knowledge of networking essentials and wireless connectivity

Customer service skills and the ability to react diplomatically and patiently to internal and external customers
Written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures
Ability to function in a fast paced environment and in stressful situations while meeting deadlines

Ability to manage multiple projects utilizing best practices based on departmental priorities, policies and procedures
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network and software issues
Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize projects and tasks
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced and stressful environment
Strong response time to phone calls, emails and customer/user requests.
