The Director, Business Development & Strategy has primary responsibility for leading key initiatives to support the growth and development of the MemorialCare Medical Foundation. In coordination with the Vice President, the Director is responsible to help shape the strategic expansion through internal development, partnership or acquisition, seeking new opportunities for growth and revenue diversification within MCMF overall. The Director acts as an internal consultant with senior leadership to support strategic decisions about entering new businesses or service lines and developing the make-build-buy analysis and associated business plans to execute on an appropriate market entry strategy. The Director collaborates with Marketing and Operations on initiatives to increase patient acquisition and fee for service revenue at the medical clinic sites. The Director collaborates with campus and physician leadership throughout the system to assure such strategies are well-aligned with campus-specific and other system-level initiatives (e.g. Population Health, Employer-based strategies, ACO development, etc.)
The department encompasses new growth and development for MemorialCare Medical Foundation, and supports the ongoing management of key ancillary services departments within MCMF, including radiology, freestanding diagnostic imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers and certain components of laboratory services. The Director, Business Development & Strategy is focused primarily on evaluating and developing strategies to enter new service lines through partnership, internal development or acquisition. In addition, this function oversees targeted growth and development activities in partnership with marketing, physician outreach and business development efforts at the medical center campuses, MCMG clinics, IPA, and overall system-level marketing teams. The Director directs, conducts and supports appropriate data collection, market intelligence, business analysis and accesses internal/external subject matter expertise to drive business development or expansion in a variety of clinical/ancillary service lines.
* Position requires extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of healthcare, technology, and business. * Experience working in a professional consulting or internal consultative role in a diverse range of provider organizations or segments of the healthcare industry; able to quickly learn and assess the key business drivers in a particular service line even with little prior subject-matter experience. * Prior business development, strategy and/or marketing experience. * Possess strategic vision and foresight and able to effectively shape and communicate direction. * Experience identifying, evaluating and planning new business ventures. * High level of proficiency analyzing and interpreting data from internal and external data sources, leveraging data to build compelling business proposals and actionable development plans. * Experience working closely with physician groups and independent practitioners preferably in a managed care environment. * An individual who is mature, self-confident, and genuine with a professional demeanor and bearing that is effective in establishing credibility across all levels of the organization. * Excellent technical, interpersonal, communication and consensus-building skills in an individual who can handle a diversity of personalities and interact effectively with others. * A service-oriented individual who is sensitive to customer needs and who views his/her department as vitally supportive to internal clients. * An innovator, who can motivate and challenge traditional ways of doing business with effective results. * Prepared to communicate verbally and through written expression with Senior Leadership across the organization. * Educationally prepared to successfully interact with executives, physicians, and other key individual.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred (Graduate degree in a health care related field which would supplement management and analytical skills)
