Swedish Medical Center is looking for aCoding Specialist Lead \(1\.0 FTE, Days\) to work in Coding and Abstracting at Swedish Met Park located in Seattle, WA\.
The Coding Specialist Lead will perform the same duties as a Coding Specialist and will acts as a resource person for coworkers and outside department\. In addition, the Coding Specialist Lead will act as a resource person for coworkers and outside departments and will help Coding Supervisors in the monitoring of daily internal workflow and recommends scheduling to ensure timeliness of work and adjusting coverage\.
In this position you will:
Assist Coding Supervisor Manages work queues routed from various departments and works accounts within those WQ's
Serve as contact person in the absence of the supervisor/manager
Serve as a primary member of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program \(CDIIP\) Team assures that charts are coded to reflect the level of service provided
Work closely with supervisor and coding auditors to communicate educational information to coders
Daily interaction and negotiation with team members
Requiredqualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED
Registered Health Information Technologist \(RHIT\) or Registered Health Information Administrator \(RHIA\) or Certified Coding Specialist \(CCS\) or Certified Procedural Coder Hospital \(CPC\-H\) or Certified Coding Associate \(CCA\)
If not certified or registered at time of employment working on obtaining certification or registration highly preferred\.
Minimum of 3 years ICD\-9\-CM and CPT coding experience performing hospital based inpatient and outpatient coding
Minimum of 3 months demonstrated proficiency in a concurrent medical record review program that emphasizes partnering between clinical documentation specialists and coding
Advanced knowledge of coding principles, disease process, and DRG assignment functions
Working experience with Windows applications
Preferredqualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two\-year college or technical school or completion of a certified coding program and three years related experience\.
