The Director of Information Technology (IT) is a leadership position at Wilmington Health that reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The position will oversee all of information technology and play an integral role in developing Wilmington Health’s IT strategic plan. We are seeking a dynamic individual with an established history of providing guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to an information systems team. The right candidate is expected to possess strong communication and analytical skills, be a critical thinker, be an effective mentor of people, and have a demonstrated effective work ethic. The Director of IT will delegate appropriate operational decision-making to responsible team members and hold them accountable for delivering the agreed-upon objectives in a timely fashion.

Perform short-term and long-term planning for department. Forecasts financial, physical and human resources needs in order to meet Practice objectives. Makes other IT specific recommendations for Practice short-term and long-term planning
Develops and publishes goals/objectives and key indicators for the department and establishes and implement policies and procedures
In conjunction with the Chief Medical Information Officer, prioritizes and oversees implementation of technology solutions
Establishes standards and procedures for evaluating products and services and manages the selection, acquisition and monitoring of hardware, software and IT services for the Practice
Participates in local and regional healthcare and/or technology associations
Develop and maintain cross functional teams to assist in the design and implementation of continually improving service delivery capabilities
Analyzes and prepares departmental budget and develops proposals with supporting documentation and justification. Ensures department(s) operates within allocated funds
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Five years of Information Systems management experience including two years supervisory experience
Experience in Healthcare IT is not required but is preferred.
About Wilmington Health's Information Technology Department
Our IT team consists of 12 team members and 1 DBA contractor, 1 Cisco Contractor, and 1 Managed Services Provider. IT support is provided to approximately 900 end users in 25 locations. The IT department supports approximately 1,200 computers most of which are Lenovo, Samsung, Surface, Asus and iPads (no thin clients or virtual desktop infrastructure). NextGen is our EMR and we are currently using version 5.8 UD2 HF 112. The clinical technology includes but is not limited to – Fuji Synapse PACS, Orchard LIS, Olympus EndoWorks, Showcase, Encapture, Siemens MI Mobile, Medtronic PaceArt, Welch Allyn Cardio Perfect, and Various Audiology Software. Our PACS Imaging devices include 7 X-ray, 2 CT, 2 MRI- 1 Mobile, 1 Fixed, 2-2D Mammography units, 2 C-Arms- 1 Surgery 1 Spinal, 2 Bone Density devices, 1 Nuclear Cardiac Camera, Mixture of various Ultrasounds (ENT, OB/GYN, Breast, Rheum, Endocrine, Surg/Vasc). According to the most recent data approximately 53k studies are performed annually and we have one Radiologist.
