Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Referral Coordinator \(1\.0 FTE, Day Shift\) to work in Gastroenterology Clinicat Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA\.
The Referral Coordinator plays a vital role on the patient care team, demonstrating the Swedish values of patient\-centered care and service; respect, caring and compassion; teamwork and partnership; continuous learning and improvement; and leadership\.
In this position you will:
Maintain complete and accurate electronic files on defined referrals
Implement systems and provides service to reduce provider time spent on referral process and to increase time available for direct patient care
Obtain authorization from insurance companies in a timely manner for patient visits or procedures
Facilitate the referrals to contracted provider network and owner hospital facilities
Educate patients to be accountable for their benefit coverage and to choose a contracted specialist
Maintain up\-to\-date knowledge of insurance plans and educate providers and staff
Required qualifications for this position include:
Education in coding and medical terminology, or equivalent experience
Minimum one year in clinic setting or medical billing office within the last three years
Background in computer data input utilizing EPIC, Word and/or Access
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
Ability to self\-manage, set priorities and operate with minimal direct supervision
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, physicians and other staff members
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Medical billing experience
