Responsible and accountable for the daily operations associated with Geisinger Health Plans Actuarial Services Department. Provides leadership in development and models impact of strategic initiatives, regulatory reforms and legislation, rate filings, trend analysis, revenue optimization, forecasting, reserving, data management and analytics for all product lines. Responsible for meeting the financial, operational and quality performance goals of Geisinger Health System.
Reports to the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Actuary, Vice President, Associate Vice President, or Actuarial Director of Actuarial Services or Risk and Revenue Management.

Competencies and Skills:
1) Exhibits strong project management and organization skills, industry knowledge and analytical problem solving
2) Demonstrates ability to work in a dynamic environment
3) Knowledgeable of actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, and economics including ability to perform financial analyses, create models, and interpret outputs
4) Experience with IT processes such as data warehouse, data governance, ETL, computer programming, etc. and ability to perform these functions as well as provide business direction for the IT department.
5) Possess strong leadership and excellent communication skills with all levels of personnel within the organization
6) Evidences excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities, with high attention to detail.
Education and or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics or related field required.
Minimum of six years of actuarial experience related to medical insurance with at least two years of supervisory experience required. In-depth knowledge of managed care, medical products, medical underwriting, pricing, and reserving.
