This position carries primary responsibility for establishing and supporting sales and marketing efforts to develop large accounts, while supporting the external group sales team efforts to develop key accounts, improve broker relations, and retention of existing groups. These efforts will focus on key prospects and new markets. Primary responsibility to include supporting activities to develop Association Health Plans, improve retention, and increase quoting activities directed towards Special Groups and prospects. Responsible for sales to increase the contracts in both new and existing groups and associations. Supports activities to ensure maximizing financial growth, increasing market share, and established short-term and long-term objectives and strategic plans.
Responsible for supporting external group sales and retention of products for the Parent Corporation and Advance Insurance Company of Kansas.
Support the sales and retention of groups to include the sale of health, dental, life, ancillary and other products for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Advance Insurance Company of Kansas.
Acts as consumer advocate in the organization and provides feedback as to how well we are meeting insureds' expectations.
Assists in the servicing of groups, hospitals, physicians in difficult situations.
Keeps up to date with recent market and industry trends, competitors and leading customer strategies.
Significant portion of time spent traveling to regional and field offices which will require overnight stays.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job functions as defined by policy.
Must comply with and implement corporate information security policies, standards, and guidelines relative to access control.
Must be accessible via text, voice, and/or data, and is therefore expected to be available to timely respond during non-working hours as scheduled or needed.
Responsible for maintaining an awareness and understanding of the business unit recovery plan for the department worked and the corporation's business continuity program in general.
College degree is preferred with emphasis on Business Administration, Health Care, or Finance/Economics. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Leadership Discovery, Exploration or Quest training preferred.
A minimum of five years of experience in sales or health care delivery systems. Previous Blue Plan background preferred.
Proven experience closing complex sales and meeting sales goals.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work with sales professionals through knowledge of insurance products, services and sales culture.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Requires the knowledge of federal mandated laws, specifically ACA, alternate funding arrangements, rating practices, retention formulas and a deep understanding of both the large and small group markets.
Requires approved sales techniques.
Requires a working knowledge of hospital, medical, economics, and practices.
Requires an understanding of sales incentive programs and systems.
Requires a State of Kansas Insurance Agents License within 60 days of assuming position.
Must have and maintain a valid driving license and remain insurable under the company's policy.
