Since 2015, adults and older adults have relied on Garland Behavioral Hospital's extensive and confidential services to help overcome psychiatric conditions and distress- helping seek a better quality of life. Garland Behavioral Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Part Time Counselor for Admissions/ Intake with a strong area of expertise with admissions to join our team in developing quality services consistent with our philosophy to serve Garland and the surrounding communities. Our Admissions Counselor is responsible for coordinating the Assessment and Referral activities at the facility. This position involves extensive contact with the community and interfaces closely with the Director of Intake, utilization review staff, GBH business office staff and clinical staff to insure continuity of communication. This position is also responsible for inquiry calls, insurance verification, and scheduling of evaluations and admissions. She/he utilizes the process and adheres to established standards of care, mental health practices, and hospital policy, goals and objectives in executing this responsibility. This position also assures that admissions are managed in a timely and courteous manner to expedite in-processing time while maximizing unit and hospital safety. Under the direction of the Admissions Director, the Admissions Counselor will provide exceptional care by assisting adult and geriatric patients in meeting their bio-psychosocial needs and follow guidelines of EMTALA.
