Martin’s Point Health Care is seeking a Health Systems Data Analyst to work collaboratively with subject matter experts and a cross functional team. The Analyst will provide accurate, timely, and consistent information that will inform decisions related to improving organizational performance - clinically, financially and operationally. To do well in this role a very fine eye for detail, experience as a data analyst, ability to work independently, a deep understanding of claims and medical expense data and great communication skills are required.
Supports the development and running of clinical and financial reporting and analyses that support Health Systems contractual relationships and management of the Martin’s Point provider network.
Effectively creates and presents reporting and analyses to various audiences using a variety of tools from Excel, PowerPoint, Cognos, Tableau and other data and analytic tools
Develops and maintains operational reporting for internal and external customers
Develops and maintains dashboards of key performance metrics for internal customers, including but not limited to Network Management leadership
Develops reporting and analyses to support Martin’s Point strategic and tactical needs and to fulfill contractual requirements for internal and external customers
Consistently and proactively seeks opportunities for analysis that has value to business stakeholders
Works with various teams across the health plan to develop and document common methodologies, definitions, and databases for reporting, ensuring accuracy, eliminating duplication of effort and providing a forum for sharing ideas and creative problem solving
Works collaboratively with analytic teams from external health systems to facilitate seamless data transfer between Martin’s Point and providers
Researches new data sources and performs data discovery as required
Stays apprised of health care trends and managed care issues
Develops knowledge and understanding of business processes at Martin’s Point
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience in Health Care or Business Administration
Two years experience in health care industry (ideally from payer or provider perspective) preferred but not required.
Demonstrates an understanding of and alignment with Martin’s Point Values
Knowledge of the health care industry preferred
Experienced with Microsoft Office Software
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, applications and toolsets
Expert data manipulation skills using current state tools such as SQL Management Studio
Expert with BI/Analytic reporting tools such as Cognos, Tableau and other toolsets
Experience presenting data and reporting in a business setting preferred
Understanding of CPT, ICD10, and HCC coding as well as medical terminology.
