The United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds (the Funds) has an opening for Deputy Director, Operations and Eligibility Services. The Funds is a group of six multi-employer plans that provide health and pension benefits primarily to retired coal miners and their eligible dependents.
The Deputy Director of Operations and Eligibility Services is responsible for the administration of annual health care expenditures and processing of health and pension applications for eligible beneficiaries. Will direct a management team who have oversight for ensuring all claims processing, cost management, call center, HCPP compliance audits, managed care, network development, eligibility services and operations activities are carried out in compliance with all applicable regulations, including administrative services agreements, the Funds’ administrative policies as well as the Funds’ Plans and Trusts.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in health care insurance industry, including claims processing, cost management, Medicare and health policy. Administration of benefit plans, ERISA, COBRA, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, and appeals as well as applicable Medicare and Black Lung laws and regulations. Must possess refined writing, communication, and presentation skills. Demonstrated leadership skills required.
