How you will make a difference: As the Compliance Specialist at HMA, you’ll be counted on to ensure that the company is lining up with existing regulations in the healthcare industry, and preparing for new changes in compliance at the State and Federal levels. This fast-paced, dynamic role is a rewarding opportunity for somebody looking to make their mark on a rapidly growing company!
What you will do: • Regulatory & legislative monitoring and analysis preparation. Tracking of regulations and legislation, preparing impacts analysis, and supporting implementation and communication efforts both internally and externally • Privacy Office administration support. Watching company procedures and policies in light of HIPAA & emerging Data Privacy &Security requirements. Mapping trends and working collaboratively to address areas of risk. Facilitates annual risk assessments and remediation work • Update training documentation & reference tools (Policies, SOPs, job aides, and training courses) • Assist in drafting updated template SPD language and analyzing benefit designs for compliance against regulatory requirements. Provides consulting support on client benefit designs, and plan language advisory support as needed. • Oversee and facilitate annual Corporate SOC Audits. Work with Control Owners to ensure their procedures align with requirements and are appropriately documented. • Plan, build, and execute staff education focused on topics such as HIPAA, security, ethics, etc. • Map and remediate corporate and regulatory risk. Develop and update reporting for management on trends, risks, and compliance metrics • Support vendor management program initiatives, including contract renewals, and assist with onboarding and terminations for our vendor partners • Handle reporting and monitor licensure requirements for States where licensed • Draft and maintain the agreements with our clients for administrative services and HIPAA compliance • Supporting operational and client inquires on variety of Compliance functional areas

Knowledge, Experience and Key Attributes needed for Success: • Bachelor’s degree required • Previous compliance and regulatory/ legislative affairs experience required • Previous exposure to healthcare, benefits administration, insurance, and privacy compliance required • Previous SOC Audit & Risk Assessment facilitation experience preferred • Ability to customize communication style and content to fit a varying audience and learning style is important to ensuring successful knowledge transfer and retention • Ability to identify and drive process improvement efforts in order streamline departmental efforts • Experience drafting language for Summary Plan Descriptions, and assisting with benefit design inquiries strongly preferred. • Previous technical writing, research and analysis experience preferred • Paralegal certification, membership with HCCA or SCCE preferred
