The Reta Trust (Reta) seeks an experienced health insurance executive to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally recognized and respected self-insured healthcare trust, which has provided health benefits for Catholic archdioceses and dioceses for the past 40 years. All benefit plans are self-insured through an ERISA Trust to align coverage with the Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs) and the new CEO must uphold the ERDs. The CEO will have an external focus and enjoy being the "face" of Reta, while representing the organization with all current and future members. Reta's mission is to provide access to an affordable, high quality healthcare program for employees and members of Catholic entities that respects the social and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Today, Reta serves 35,000 clergy, women religious, and lay staff and dependents of 60+ Catholic organizations, primarily in the Western United States. Reta is led by a Board of Trustees elected by Reta's member groups (Trustors).
The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement the organization's strategies, policies, and program initiatives and is supported by Gallagher Health Benefit Services, a team of professionals with deep experience in health benefits design, financing, delivery, administration and customer service, who contract with Reta to carry out day-to-day operations to achieve the organization's mission in conjunction with carriers, partners, and vendors. This leader will be responsible for managing growth and expansion, operational and financial performance and setting the strategy and vision for Reta in the ever-changing healthcare landscape.
The successful candidate will have extensive health care/health insurance experience and a track record of leadership with self-insured medical, dental, and vision products and understand how those products interact within a large risk pool. In addition to content knowledge, the individual will have strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship building skills to be able to effectively manage the senior leadership team from Gallagher Benefit Services as well as other consultants.
