Responsible for assisting with project completion including analysis, training, testing, documentation problem resolution and implementation an application. Provides input into project plans.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System (GHS) in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*1. Performs data collection for problem analysis, including interviews of relevant personnel.
*2. Analyzes documents, files, reports and other application related workflows.
*3. Prepares flow charts and system test data requirements. Organizes information in accessible project files and maintains tables and master files.
*4. Documents existing procedures, change control process and other operating characteristics.
*5. Provides input into project plans and assists with the design of new or improved systems including reports.
*6. Reports project progress and activity to I.T. management as required. Maintains communications with team members, end users and supervisors.
*7. Assists with the assurance that end users uphold the GHS Security policies.
*8. Prepares training materials and provides training for users and operations personnel.
*9. Provides support for specific applications possibly requiring 24 hours/7 days per week coverage.
*10. Assists with planning, testing and documenting application upgrades. Gains a solid understanding of assigned applications.
*11. Assists in the development of user, systems and operations documentation.
*12. Assists in the preparation of department policies, procedures, and standards.
13. Attends departmental and team meeting.
14. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrated a strong general understanding of personal computers, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated abilities in analytical thinking for problem solving.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a team environment and with high-level management.
General understanding of the health care industry preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required; or technical diploma / technical certification in a field related to the position required.
In lieu of degree or certification, minimum of three years of full time experience in a related information technology/application/user support role required.
