WittKieffer has been retained by Akron Children's Hospital to assist in the recruitment of a Vice President of Payor Strategy. Prior to joining Akron Children's, Kowal was a finance executive with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Akron Children’s Hospital is ranked among the best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, but their compassionate approach to treatment is what makes Akron Children's truly exceptional. To ensure families have convenient access to care, Akron Children's has two hospital campuses in Northeast Ohio and 60+ primary, specialty and urgent care locations. To bring its neonatal and pediatric expertise to patients, Akron Children's collaborates with many community partners. Through their Children’s Home Care and School Health programs, Akron Children's nurses treat kids where they live and learn. With more than 1 million patient visits, the organization has been leading the way to healthier futures for children through quality patient care, education, advocacy, community service and medical discovery since 1890.
Ohio is home to several top tier children's hospitals. One of the market differentiators of Akron Children's has been its ability to develop partnerships with some of the region's leading health systems, bringing neonatal and pediatric expertise to a broad array of community hospitals. Akron Children's collaborative approach has resulted in strong financial performance and has allowed for investment in a wide array of mission driven children's healthcare services that are highly valued in Northeast Ohio.
This executive will make an immediate impact on several short and long term payor strategies that positions Akron Children's for collaboration, growth and delivering on a value equation that meets the needs of the communities it serves. Candidates will have senior management managed care contracting experience at a health plan or hospital/health system environment that is recognized for innovative managed care contracting, including value-based models that create long-term "win-win" partnerships. Most importantly, candidates will have a passion for pediatric healthcare and thrive on working in an organization that delivers outstanding children’s healthcare.
The Akron Children's Vice President of Payor Strategy will have an opportunity to live and work in a market that has a wide variety of cultural and recreational opportunities. Most people think of Akron for tire manufacturing. However, Akron has a small city charm with many offerings such as a thriving Historic Arts district, jazz clubs and sports venues. Located a quick 30 miles south of Cleveland, Akron and Northeast Ohio have something for everyone during every season of the year. Whether it is Akron, the Cleveland metro area or the 33,000 acres of natural beauty at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (located between Cleveland and Akron) the region offers an outstanding quality of life and a very affordable housing market.
