Nemours is seeking a Financial Family Advocate II (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Specialty Care team in Jacksonville, Florida.
At our three clinic locations in the Jacksonville area, Nemours is a leading provider of pediatric specialty care in north Florida with many of our pediatric specialists regularly recognized as the “Best Doctors in America®.” We offer comprehensive, family-centered care in more than 30 pediatric specialties. Several of those specialties, offered in collaboration with Wolfson Children’s Hospital, have been named among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
Counsel and educate families regarding alternative funding sources that are available. Provide excellent customer service. Make financial arrangements for families that have partial NCC funding or are self-pay. Serve as a resource to other PBS teams and assist with special projects. Assist in training new employees and provide cross coverage within the PBS area.
Courteously and promptly answer telephone lines
Communicate effectively with providers, patient families and other team members
Interview and assess families for NCC funding
Refer families to alternative sources of funding, i.e. Medicaid / Medical Needy, CMS, KidCare and Early Intervention etc.
Set up payment plans for patients with partial NCC funding or past due balances
Collect and post payments on past due accounts
Process NCC Funding applications for Management approval
Set-up payment arrangements/referrals for Self-Pay patients
Notate/flag self-pay accounts using Patient Scheduled with Balance report
Input CMS payor plan on accounts of new CMS patients
Reconcile BMC UB92 for NCC 100% funded patients
Coordinate International patient’s appointments and financial arrangements
Set up payment agreements for Hearing Aids / Orthotics and other items or services as needed
Notify Supervisor of any detected errors, particularly patterns of errors or inaccuracies for all files and documentation
Maintain statistical data and develop/maintain production reports as determined by management
Train and mentor other financial counselors and PBS team members
Assist with Special Projects
Strong computer and clerical skills
Strong knowledge and understanding of health insurance and associated guidelines
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Clinic services and personnel
Makes decisions within established guidelines and departmental policy
Knowledge of HRS, Medicaid and insurance plan policies and procedures
Strong collection skills
Recognizes and understands all functions within PBS
Meets deadlines and completes work in a timely manner
Exhibit a teamwork orientation and be cross trained in at least two other PBS areas, outside normal job functions
Maintain strict confidentiality
Demonstrates reliability through work performance and attendance
Accepts additional duties as a learning tool.
Works independently and functions as backup to Supervisor
All requirements for Financial Counselor I
Minimum of 3 years experience in the medical field, experience in a doctor’s office setting required.
Minimum of 1 year experience in financial counseling or collections.
High school diploma required, 1 to 2 years of college level course work preferred
