Work Hours/Shift: This position will cover both AH Heart of Florida and Lake Wales - 8 - 10 hour shifts Friday and Saturday

You Will Be Responsible For:   

• Performs evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques. Establishes, implements and adapts an individualized treatment plan of care (including appropriate goal setting, treatment activities and frequency). Discharges patients when maximum benefit has been achieved and/or according to standards of practice and payer guidelines.
• Documents accurately, completely, and timely with legible handwriting. Uses measurable and objective terminology following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and department/hospital policy and procedures.
• Charges patient accurately, timely and legibly according to guidelines of the CPT code format, price file, and following insurance guidelines.
• Utilizes knowledge of growth and development for assigned patient age population. Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms of the patient. Interprets data relative to patient age. Modifies approach and communication skills appropriate to the patient served, which may include: Neonate/Infant (birth < 1), Pediatric (1 < 12 yrs), Adolescent (12 < 18 yrs), Adult (18 < 65 yrs) and Geriatric (65 + yrs).
• Identifies the need for patient/caregiver education and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis. Documents education with understanding as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
â· Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
â· Ability to design, develop, and employ alternative diagnostic or communication devices and strategies
â· Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
â· Ability to contribute and participate in patient, family, and staff education on speech therapy
â· Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Officeâ 
â· Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English

ⷠMaster’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology

â· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
â· A license or provisional license in the State as a Speech and Language Pathologist
