Make Improvements in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Diseases as a Supervisor, Pathology at WakeMed Health & Hospitals
As a Supervisor, Pathology, you will supervise staff members within laboratory section or area of responsibility and perform technical and administrative duties. Additional responsibilities include:
Overseeing the daily performance of the diagnostic work of the laboratory, ensuring quality work and adequate staffing within area of responsibility
Performing laboratory testing as needed to maintain and strengthen knowledge base of discipline
Assisting in planning and review of technical studies
Acting as a consultant regarding technical questions and problems
Overseeing laboratory quality assurance and quality control, procedure updates, proficiency testing, employee training and education, evaluation and implementation of new procedures, equipment, and computer functionality, and compliance with accrediting agencies
Coordinating technical development, review, and training activities with technical and management staff
Assuring timely, effective communication with employees
Conferring with and counseling staff members regarding problems, errors, and inquiries
Promoting teamwork and maintaining focus on customer service
Participating in section administrative activities including but not limited to selection and evaluation of employees, maintenance of employee records, inventory control/ordering, and budgetary planning
Coordinating operational, personnel, and budgetary administrative components with Section Manager/management staff to assure optimal application of resources
Providing after hours assistance as needed
Delegating assignments and tasks as is required to guarantee accuracy and promptness of patient testing and efficient laboratory operation

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Weekend requirements: as needed
Call requirements: every sixth week
Education Required:
Required: Associate's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology
Experience Requirements:
Required: 5 Years Clinical - Medical Technologist
Preferred: Previous leadership role
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
American Society for Clinical Pathology Required
