This vacancy is for a position as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CT) with the Radiology Service Line of the Kansas City VA Medical Center. As a Certified Diagnostic Radiological Technologist (DRT), it is required to operate a Multi slice and Spiral Computed Tomography Scanner, perform difficult imaging procedures inclusive of Computed Tomography (CT) with 3D reconstructions, and monitor patients during all phases of appropriate examinations. Major Duties include but not limited to: Develop new techniques, defines optimal protocols, and devises alternative ways to visualize pathology with the patient. Evaluate new system(s) and compares them with existing methodologies. Interacts with physician, physicist, an manufacturers technical service personnel on a recurring basis in the performance of daily assignments. Receives patient's to include verbal interview for demographic accuracy and patient education prior to procedure, ensuring patient comfort and relaxation. Administers contrast media and medications under the direction and supervision of the staff radiologist. Confers with the radiologist(s) to establish requirements with reference to contrast agents, vital signs, medications, and physiological monitoring to perform the procedures(s). Assists and scrubs with the radiologists during the procedure on an as needed basis. Uses hospital electronic medical record system to register and document patient information. Performs technical and general operation and maintenance of the computer, disk drives, console, imaging devices, etc. Assists manufacture and biomedical engineers in the calibration and trouble shooting of any malfunctions in all equipment associated with Computer Imaging Devices. Establishes and monitors quality control programs for these sections and maintains operations logs, service and maintenance reports. Maintains imaging files on patient, clinical analysis, computer data, and technical parameters of each examination to include short and long term archives, and ensures images transfer to Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS). Replenishes section stock items/supplies at the end of each shift. Assists in the development and execution of procedure manual(s) and in devising and modifying procedures as necessary to include research protocols Assists and develops training programs for new technologist(s), physician(s), resident(s), and general clinical staff in Computed Tomography. Technologists are required to remain certified with their registry and be current in continuing education requirements. Requires participation in-part and/or all after hours call, Standby or Call-back, for Computed Tomography. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/and or Radiology Service Chief. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:30 am - 8:00 pm or 4:00 pm to midnight
