The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is accountable to the Chief of Surgery at the Chalmers P Wylie Ambulatory Care Center. Incumbent is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who has completed a program beyond basic nursing education, approval by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and is responsible for providing the most effective delivery of anesthesia care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Incumbent practices within the standards of care established in the VAOPC. This will be accomplished through experience, consultation, direct observation, and chart reviews, as well as an annual meeting with a CRNA to assure competence within the scope of practice guidelines. Additional meetings may be called at the discretion of the Chief of Surgery/Chief of Anesthesia. Duties if this position include, but are not limited to: Preoperative evaluation Insertion of intra-arterial catheters for monitoring Insertion of central venous catheters Induction and maintenance of general anesthesia Administration of inhalation anesthetic agents Administration of intravenous anesthetic agents Administration of spinal anesthetic agents Induction and maintenance of regional anesthesia Brachial plexus block Peripheral nerve block Intravenous regional anesthesia of upper and lower extremities Management of pre and post anesthesia ventilator care. Inhalation Therapy Cardiopulmonary resuscitation Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
