Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The Primary Care Physician Assistant will be temporarily appointed on a full-time schedule not to exceed 3 years. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for delivery of primary care to patients enrolled at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. This includes analyzing medical data, establishing diagnoses, formulating treatment plans and possessing the skill and competency to obtain thorough medical histories. This is a temporary position not to exceed 3 years from appointment date. Manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting. Daily rounding to observe & record each patient`s medical progress update medical records, change orders as appropriate & permitted. Alternative or collateral duties may include management of a subsection of primary care patients, the subsection may be defined either by a disease status (e.g. agent orange patients), or demographic status (women veterans, OIF/OEF veterans, etc). Typically these duties are designated at the time of joining but occasionally during the course of employment, participation in special projects pertinent to assigned section may be necessary as the projects become available through strategic or other initiatives. Timely documentation of progress notes & summaries in the patient`s medical record. Drawing of blood specimens for laboratory tests & other procedures. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday -Friday Typical 8:00am-4.30 pm. Alternative work hours, if desired, should be agreed upon at the time of joining. Financial Discloser Report: Not required
