Primary responsibilities include managing the compliance of federal, multi-state and local tax returns for for-profit companies; manages compliance of annual corporate registrations; calculation of quarterly estimated taxes; performing technical tax research and formulating and providing of tax planning and guidance in a broad range of tax areas. The position interacts with Financial Reporting and provides tax direction in accordance with federal/ state tax guidance; develops current and deferred tax provisions and financial statement disclosures per ASC740 and insurance regulations. Provides support and documentation to address and resolve federal/state audits and assists Tax Manager and Tax Director with projects. CPA is required for this position.
Manages compliance of annual federal, multi-state and multi-local income tax returns, registrations and related filings for for-profit and insurance companies.
Analyzes tax guidance for compliance requirements; prepares tax requests for Finance staff accordingly; reviews and analyzes responses and supporting work papers; reconciles differences to financial records and makes adjustments as needed; compiles information, completes and files return.
Analyzes NAIC statutory filing requirements and file insurance returns accordingly.
Manages compliance and registrations for multiple state and local jurisdictions, federal excise tax returns and refunds.
Includes, but is not limited to, business privilege, payroll tax, unemployment, sales tax registrations, state corporate annual reports, personal property tax returns, unclaimed property tax returns, etc.
Manages compliance of Annual Form 5500 Employee Benefit Plan Returns and Summary Annual reports for multiple benefit and welfare plans.
Reconciles financial records to Fidelity and TIAACREF and other unrelated, third-party recordkeepers.
Manages compliance of PA Exemption Applications.
Responsible for compliance with mandatory electronic filing requirements for multiple federal and state tax software platforms.
Prepares quarterly estimated tax payments for for-profit and non-profit companies.
Compiles and maintains sufficient supporting documentation for such estimates. Communicates with Financial Reporting personnel to ensure timely payment of estimated taxes.
Prepares current and deferred tax provisions in accordance with GAAP and Statutory Insurance Company Accounting requirements.
Manages compliance of sales tax for multiple states.
Researches sales tax issues and provide guidance to various departments within the system.
Manages compliance of the annual state not-for-profit charitable registrations.
Manages compliance of Form 1099s, PA Act-43 Withholding, Form 1042, Form 1042s, Form 720, tax transmittals, Form W-9, Form W-8, sales tax exemption certificates, tax authority notices, etc.
and maintains tracking log of tax notices.
Manages FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Reporting) and FATCA compliance.
Researches changes in tax guidance, prepares tax requests for Treasury and Risk Management staff accordingly, and prepares Forms TD F 9021- as needed.
Researches tax resources on specifically identified issues.
Assists Tax Director and Tax Manager in special projects and provides technical support as needed.
