Lead workstreams on behalf of the Clinical Cabinet working closely with the Executive Sponsors and project teams of AdventHealth Clinicals strategic initiatives, the ACCO/ SVP, Nursing VP, and market Division VP’s.
Drive development of strategic initiatives by structuring complex issues into phased workstreams and deliverables. Ensure project goals and objectives are achieved within the project scope and timeframe established by the ACCO/SVP and management committees. Develop and lead strategic business value propositions and support the strategic initiatives identified by the Clinical Cabinet and senior executives.
Coordinates agendas by collecting, prioritizing and completing follow-up activities related to agenda items by coordinating and communicating with senior executives and other leaders. Ensures that strategic topics are brought for review in alignment with project timelines.
Serve as an active business partner and leader with the team of executives reporting to the ACCO/CNE and Corporate Nursing Vice President in the execution of the ACCO/CNE’s agenda and strategy and leadership of departments and initiatives.
Coordinates the development of executive level presentations on behalf of the ACCO/CNE and Corporate Nursing Vice President related to the strategic vison of nursing.
Collaborates with ACCO/CNE and Corporate Nursing VP in the development, management and execution of strategic initiatives and projects related to the Nursing strategic plan and 2030 company aspirations.
Works with nursing leaders from all markets to support nursing practices that prioritize patient safety, evidence-based care, and meeting nursing quality care measures.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary market leaders to ensure alignment between nursing care practices and the practices of the interdisciplinary clinical team.
Develops and leads a structure for Nursing Shared Governance that provides nurses the ability to influence policies and decisions that affect nursing practice at AdventHealth, including the creation of a standard professional practice model that reflects the Mission and Vision of AdventHealth, and the Nursing Strategic Vision.
Establishes structures for maintaining the Healthy Work Environment standards of authentic leadership, skilled communication, true collaboration, meaningful recognition, appropriate staffing and effective decision making across the company.
Design and establish in collaboration with Human Resources a clinical ladder structure at AdventHealth that recognizes and rewards nurses for their education, professional development, and contributions to nursing at AdventHealth.
Leads collaborative work to develop innovative staffing models using knowledge of current nursing workforce trends that impact the number and availability of RNs in the workforce.
Partners with HR, Finance, and Regional nursing leaders to optimize Travel Nurse Agency contract agreements and prioritize appropriate and timely facility staffing.
Initiates and participates in problem-solving and policy creation and updates when needed.
Develops structures for standard nursing recognition elements across the enterprise.
Develops and supports plans for recruitment and retention of nurses to maintain an effective nursing workforce.
Provides oversight and direction for the design and structure of nursing leadership development initiatives across the enterprise.
Develops communication strategies for major initiatives and serve as a conduit of information and communication from the office of the CSO as applicable, to senior leaders, departments and, in conjunction with the Corporate Communications team, to the organization at-large.
Identifies and responds to issues and risks, own and provides expedient follow through to action or resolution as applicable, communicating accordingly and appropriately.
Functions as an “advisor” for health policy and national health system issues. Remain abreast of national trends in healthcare markets as the organization migrates towards a more consumer focused clinical company.
What You Will Need:
MSN or equivalent
10+ years management experience or equivalent
Experience working with diverse teams, managing major events and projects
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:
National Board Certification in a clinical specialty
Registered Nurse licensure
Knowledge and Skills Required:
In-depth knowledge of clinical/hospital operations
Knowledge of continuum of care quality standards and regulations
Ability to conduct primary and secondary research and to analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources.
Expertise in developing new programs
Ability to design, structure, implement and oversee multiple projects and teams simultaneously and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external parties, including executives, employees, physicians and consumers.

Demonstrated background in strategic analysis and planning.

The Executive Director of Nursing is responsible for developing and leading comprehensive methods to direct the execution of multiple and interrelated programs and top initiatives required for the achievement of AdventHealth strategic vision. This critical role is accountable for system-wide program oversight, prioritized escalation, timeline visibility and knowledge transfer. Programs and initiatives may include, but are not limited to Clinical Excellence, Critical Care, Nursing, Emergency Services, Workforce Planning, Care Transformation and Mission Integration. The Executive director must collaborate with executives and leaders across all corporate functions and operational divisions to facilitate, coordinate and implement the development and execution of strategic initiatives that are aligned with our 2030 company aspirations. This individual must have the mental agility to be both a strategic thinker and a tactical leader, capable of understanding and communicating alignment of initiatives to the Vision as well as project objectives, value propositions and resource requirements
