You Will Be Responsible For:
Updates chart deficiency information in EMR as physicians complete records.
Assists physicians with record completion and their message center.
Completes operative report suspension or notification process daily as deemed necessary according to the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.
Performs physician suspension process as required by the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations; Compiles delinquent reports by physician; Generates computerized suspension notification to physicians; Notifies physicians via telephone call/fax of impending suspension and subsequent suspension if records are not completed by deadline.
Monitors daily the list of physicians on suspension, updates the list as physicians complete delinquent records, and promptly sends notifications to insure compliance with Joint Commission requirements and Health Information Management (HIM) Department performance standards.
Processes requests for health information in a timely and accurate manner for transfer patients as deemed necessary by facility location.
Processes requests for health information from physicians and healthcare facilities as deemed necessary by facility location.
Processes refused orders and unsigned documents daily and ascertains the accuracy of the information.
Updates baby names from Live Birth Review Sheets daily as deemed necessary by facility location.
Reports the daily status update for the HIM performance measure report and conducts the operative report monitor for the monthly scorecard report.
Performs Powerchart validation as deemed necessary by facility location.
Answers incoming telephone calls, determines nature of calls, and routes to appropriate person or department as deemed necessary by facility location.
Performs any and all other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Medical terminology preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum one (1) year previous hospital Health Information Management experience.
Proficiency typically reached with on-the-job training and orientation within one (1) year.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) registration
Performs processes associated with physician record completion which include assisting physicians with incomplete records, physician notification of incomplete and delinquent medical records, and physician suspension procedures. Assures that all information is present, readily accessible, and properly entered into the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Performs release of information in accordance with department policy, state, and federal statutes. Responsibility to adhere to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.
