5 East is an acute surgical unit. Patient populations include: Orthopedics, Vascular, Cardio-Thoracic, General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and GYN Surgery. The majority of patients have secondary medical chronic diagnosis. The RN is accountable for defined groups of patients on his/her shift. Based on education and experience, may be assigned responsibilities as preceptor, charge nurse or team leader. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
